The countdown is on for Springwell’s Purple Ladies 5K run, the LADIES ONLY event will take place once more on Wednesday 16 August at 7.30pm from the Joey Dunlop Leisure Centre, Ballymoney. A spokes person for the club said ‘the numbers of ladies running has increased dramatically over the last few years. Entries have been flooding in and it looks like we will have upwards on 300 ladies competing on Wednesday evening.’

The run is open to all ladies over the age of 12 years old and covers a distance of 5K (approximately 3 miles).

This event gives all ladies the chance to walk, or jog at their own pace around the route as Springwell Running Club are continuing to promote health and fitness in the area whilst raising the profile of female sport.

It is hoped that this is to be a fun event. Marshalls will be positioned around the course to encourage everyone and ensure their safe passage along the route!

Registration and pack collection is available in the Joey Dunlop Leisure Centre from 5.30pm. Entry fees are £9 (affiliated) or £11 (unaffiliated) and there is a Technical T-shirt for the first 350 entries.

There are prizes for winners in all age categories.

After the run there will be a chance to talk to fellow runners and members of Springwell Running Club whilst enjoying some post-race refreshments.

The event is sponsored by GES Group, a market leader in Electrical and Mechanical Engineering, who specialise in motor rewinds and overhauls, renewable energy, HV/LV installation and maintenance, and the design and build of bespoke panels and switchgear.

Whether you are a beginner or an experienced competitive runner this event caters for all abilities! You complete the 5K at your own pace!

We look forward to seeing everyone at the Joey Dunlop Leisure Centre on Wednesday evening and afterwards for a catch-up!
