Last chance for all runners and fun runners to enter the LacPatrick 5 Mile ROAD RACE and FUN RUN at the Joey Dunlop Leisure Centre on Friday 28th July 2017.
Organizers, Ballymoney Sports Development Unit in partnership with Springwell Running Club are indebted to LacPatrick Creameries (formerly known as Ballyrashane Creameries) who are sponsoring this tremendous event for the fourth time.
The 5 mile road race begins at 7.30pm with 20 individual categories incorporated into the main race this year.
‘This year promises to be another great event with categories for everyone and prizes the whole way down the field, so there is no excuse not to turn up and give it a go’, commented Sports Manager, John Fall.
The full list of categories are as follows, open male and female, veterans section for males over 35, 40, 45, 55 60 & 65, veterans sections for females for over 35, 40, 45, 50, 55, 60, 65, junior race 15+ for male and female, wheelchair race for male and females.
The race has attracted great numbers in past years with 180 finishers in 2016 and this year should be no different with enquiries already received from all over the province.
Prior to the main event, the children’s fun run will take place at 6.15pm again at the Joey Dunlop Leisure Centre. The race will take place in the grounds of the centre and is open to anyone aged 8-11 & 12-14.
Please note that entry costs £3-00 per child and NO entries will be accepted without a Parental/Guardian consent form being completed.
‘This is the 12th year of the children’s event and we would encourage all children from the Borough to come along and take part. Every child will receive a medal for competing’ commented John Fall.
Kenny Bacon of Springwell Running Club also commented,
‘Preparation for the main races has gone really smoothly this year and I am delighted to continue our excellent partnership with Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council’s Ballymoney Sports Development Unit. Their input is invaluable to ensure the event is a success. Hopefully we will top the 200 mark in entries this year and who knows maybe see the course record fall in one of the events. A special prize is on offer for anyone beating any of the current course records….’
The evening’s activities kick off from 6pm and everyone is welcome to attend and support the runners. The new Deputy Mayor, Councillor Cathal McLaughlin will start the race at 7.30pm from the Garryduff Road.
